California Healthcare Policy Forum White Paper
The California Healthcare Institute (CHI), in partnership with Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, has published a new white paper on the information technology-enabled movement to achieve value-driven healthcare. Inside, you’ll find discussions from healthcare and IT industry leaders from CHI’s annual California Healthcare Policy Forum, held in August at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, Calif. The forum delved into the activities the application of IT to healthcare can facilitate, from increased access to care to increased evaluation of care. Speakers included Rick Norling (Premier, Inc.), Jeff Rideout (Cisco), Irwin Jacobs (QUALCOMM), Lonny Reisman (ActiveHealth), Bill Bernstein (Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP), Heidi Wagner (Genentech), Steve Usdin (BioCentury Publications), Scott Gottlieb (American Enterprise Institute), Hank Nordhoff (Gen-Probe) and Herb Schultz (Office of Governor Schwarzenegger). In the white paper, topics ranging from value-based purchasing and “smart” care management, to telehealth and follow-on biologics, as well as Governor Schwarzenegger’s healthcare reform goals, are discussed.
