Senator Connie Leyva was elected to represent the 20th State Senate District in November 2014, which includes the cities and communities of Bloomington, Chino, Colton, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Montclair, Muscoy, Ontario, Pomona, Rialto and San Bernardino. She currently serves as Democratic Caucus Chair of the California State Senate and also sits on the following committees: Appropriations, Education, Energy, Utilities and Communications, Joint Legislative Audit, Rules, and Transportation and Housing.
Prior to her election into office, Senator Leyva served as both a Union Representative and President of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1428 in order to give grocery workers a stronger voice for fair wages and benefits. She was later elected in 2004 as the first woman President of the California Labor Federation, representing more than 2.1 million workers throughout the state. Please note that this is not a fundraiser and all CHI and BayBio members are welcome to participate. Since the CHI conference room is small, it is important for us to know who will be coming to determine if we need to change venues.
