CHI to Host Congressional Delegation Roundtables in California
CHI has scheduled key legislative roundtables with members of the California delegation, including Reps. Jackie Speier (D-Hillsborough), Kevin McCarthy (R-Bakersfield), and Jerry McNerney (D-Pleasanton) during this month’s congressional recess. These informal high-level discussions provide an opportunity to address the importance of federal policies to California's life sciences community in terms of job creation, economic growth, and biomedical research and innovation, especially in light of healthcare reform legislation under consideration in Washington. CHI and BIOCOM to Co-host Symposium on STEM Education Initiatives with Rep. Susan Davis on Aug. 27
CHI will co-host with BIOCOM the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Symposium, Thursday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m. in San Diego. The event will feature a comprehensive look at how the biomedical industry and academic communities work together to address STEM education and workforce development needs and include speakers from

Disclosure and Transparency Laws Focus of New CHI Program with Hogan & Hartson
Over the last several years, both the state and federal governments have enacted new disclosure and transparency laws directed at drug and device companies, as well as physicians and academic medical centers. USC Body Computing Conference

On Oct. 8, the pre-conference Body Computing Slam event and dinner will be held at the Davidson Conference Center on the main USC campus beginning at 5 p.m. The event will feature a series of short presentations by Body Computing-related research teams, companies, and thought teams. There is a radical shift happening in medicine at the convergence of implantable and wearable devices, involving the integration of information and how medicine and clinical information are delivered.
