Gen-Probe CEO Carl Hull Speaks out on Medical Device Tax

The San Diego Union-Tribune ran a Q&A with CHI board member Carl Hull, president and chief executive officer of Gen-Probe Incorporated, focusing on the proposed medical device tax on the biomedical industry. Hull said the proposed tax would likely prompt companies to cut research and development, which would in turn decrease investment in innovation. Hull also feels strongly that the proposed tax would disproportionately affect smaller, earlier-stage companies, ultimately forcing them to cut jobs.
