Impact of Proposed Medical Technology Manufacturing Fee on California

In response to concerns with the medical technology manufacturing fee proposed by Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) as part of healthcare reform legislation, CHI produced an information sheet to illustrate the likely impact of the fee in California. The paper indicates that the industry in the state, employing nearly one-third of the entire U.S. medical technology workforce, would be disproportionately impacted by the fee at a time, with 12.2 percent statewide unemployment, it can least afford it.
