CHI Patient Perspectives Podcast Series New Episode: A New Model for Funding Research

CHI, The Burrill Report and the Children’s Rare Disease Network released the latest episode of the Patient Perspectives Podcast Series: A New Model for Funding Research. Beth Anne Baber, Ph.D., co-founder, CEO and president of The Nicholas Conor Institute, speaks about her son’s (Conor’s) cancer treatment journey when he was diagnosed with stage 3, high-risk neuroblastoma in July 2005. Because of the location of the tumor, surgery and radiation were not options, which left Conor to undergo high intensity chemotherapy. After seeing her son endure the side-effects of the powerful treatment, Baber envisioned an institute that would work with the biomedical community to find therapies that would reduce the severity of side-effects from cancer treatments and provide a better quality of life for children with cancer. Together with her colleagues Baber co-founded The Nicholas Conor Institute.
