CHI will be holding a roundtable discussion with Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-11), the newest California member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee on Tuesday, March 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the offices of Dutko Worldwide, 412 First Street, SE, Suite 100, Washington, D.C. Rep. McNerney, who has his Ph.D. in mathematics, served several years at Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico as a national security contractor. Then McNerney moved to California, accepting a senior engineering position with US Windpower, Kenetech, and in 1994 began working as an energy consultant for PG&E, FloWind, the Electric Power Research Institute, and other utility companies. Prior to his election to Congress, he served as the chief executive officer of a start-up company that manufactures wind turbines. This event offers an opportunity for the CHI membership to engage in a dialogue with officials concerning the importance of the state's life sciences research and development community to economic growth, job creation and continued biomedical innovation. To RSVP for this event contact Todd Gillenwater, CHI's vice president of public policy, at
