Gen-Probe Says Business is Good

With more than $470 million in annual revenues and virtually no debt, Gen-Probe's technology is used to test 90 percent of the U.S. blood supply and 60 percent of the sexually transmitted disease market. Gen-Probe has focused on expanding its product pipeline by acquiring companies with promising new technology such as Tepnel, a European-based company, which makes genetic tests for diseases such as cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome and inherited high-levels of cholesterol. Under the leadership of
former CHI Chairman Hank L. Nordhoff, chairman and chief executive officer, Gen-Probe has outperformed its competitors and will continue to produce important products to help treat diseases.
